It’s July and time to think about SMN high school football. NO NOT THAT! Okay don’t. But by now we should be able to associate SMN high school football with another opportunity for our classmates to gather at SOP”s again. The 2013 football schedule has been posted and this year’s homecoming game will be Friday, Oct. 4 against…oh, it doesn’t matter. We aren’t going to the game anyway. As has been agreed, for our annual gathering, unless something changes, how many more phrases can I slip in here, we’re going to spend our evening at Sully’s Pub, formerly Some Other Place (affectionately known as SOP’s), at 5436 Johnson Dr. in Mission, corner of Johnson Dr and Nall and have some fun. No up front payment or fees are required. Just your presence. I hope almost 3 month’s notice is enough for you to make some arrangements. Put it on your calendar so you can remind me. This information will eventually get posted to the class website.

While we are on the subject of websites…were we? We are now. How’s that for a segue. Smn71.com is still alive and active. If your contact information has changed, please update it so we can keep you in the loop of all announcements. Some people are falling out since their email address has changed and it hasn’t been updated there yet. Kick some booty and get me more contacts…not that I need them. My eyes are still pretty good except for reading.

If you have a facebook account, I spent several hours this afternoon doing what would have taken an 8 year old mere minutes to do and set up a closed group on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/smn71/. A closed group means anyone can see who’s in the group but you will not have access to any posts or pictures unless you are a member of the group. Please take some time and join the group. It will be another way to establish a chain of communication for the class for those who don’t want to give out their email address. I may send out invitations to join later if I can figure it out or find me an 8 year old. Easier if you just go and join. Of course, now that I have joined facebook, it is time for facebook to die and look for the next big social media place to avoid. Time for dinner. TTFN.

Apparently, I found advance and unofficial information regarding the date for the 2013 homecoming game. I got an email today from Jim Pumphrey informing me the date is Sept 27. I can no longer confirm the Oct 4 date so outside of calling the school, and we all know how that call may go, we will go with Sept 27 as the homecoming date. So here’s the deal. If you were going to come to SOP’s on Oct 4 but can’t on Sept 27, let me know. If you can come on Sept 27 but not on Oct 4, let me know. If it doesn’t make a difference to anybody, we will leave it as is.

I've been reminded I have failed to send out reminders for our annual homecoming gathering. I would have gotten it out earlier but ...(insert busy activities here). it's raining this morning and I can't work in the yard or close the pool. Instead i get to eat some oatmeal and send this out. I don't know who wins here but onward.

If your calendars aren't marked yet, your grand kids aren't trying hard enough. clear a spot for Sept 27th and write on there "SMN71 reunion SOP's 7pm til". by now, we should all know that SOP's has changed hands a few times and is now Sully's Pub but it's still standing unlike Mission pool which was blown up this year. For those of you who lived there in the summers of our youth, you can grieve with me.

Starts when you get there and ends when you leave. Just remember this is a Friday night and we should probably try to get there before the regulars wander in.
